Where we started
It started around a kitchen table.
Maro Music began with a simple wish — that more kids in Australia would get the chance to pick up an instrument without their parents needing to think twice about the price tag.
We're a division of Maro Online, a small family business in Sydney. The same family that started Maro back in 2019 around a kitchen table — tired of paying too much for everyday things and convinced there had to be a better way. When parents kept asking us where to find a good student violin that wouldn't fall apart, Maro Music was born.
Today, every instrument that leaves our Sydney warehouse is unboxed, tuned, and checked by hand before we send it on its way. We've watched these instruments go to first-time ukulele players, school music programs, hobbyists rediscovering a love they put down years ago, and parents trying to encourage a curious kid. Every one of those orders matters to us — because we still pack each one ourselves.
We're not the biggest music store in Australia, and we're not trying to be. We just want to be the one you'd recommend to a friend: fair prices, fast post from Sydney, a real person on the other end of the email, and a no-fuss promise to make it right if anything goes wrong.
